Batch file renamer
Preview new names for a batch of files, then download local ZIP copies without modifying the originals.
How to use
Select files and choose the name pattern and order. Preview names and review original names, new names and counters. You can download a JSON plan before file contents are read. After reviewing the preview, create the ZIP and download the new copies. Every input change discards the previous preview and requires a new one.
With prefix trip_, a counter starting at 1 padded to width 3, separator _ and lowercase extension, photo.JPG becomes trip_photo_001.jpg. The counter follows the chosen output order. Under this policy, .gitignore has no extension.
Support & limits
The extension begins at the last dot only when it is not the first character. Output is prefix + stem + suffix + optional separator/counter + extension. Changing the extension does not convert contents. NFC is used only for comparison and sorting; spelling is retained unless you request lowercase extensions. Conservative collision comparison uses NFC, uppercase, then NFC and may reject names that some systems distinguish. Path/control characters, reserved names, surrounding whitespace and trailing dots are rejected. Sorting uses fixed UTF-16 order after NFC, not linguistic order; ties retain selection order. ZIP uses STORE without compression and preserves content bytes, with a fixed archive date of 2000-01-01 instead of original timestamps. No originals are modified, and no upload or automatic storage occurs.
Common questions
Does this rename files directly on my device?
No; it creates new copies inside a ZIP. You choose whether and where to extract it. A collision stops processing with an explicit error instead of overwriting a file or guessing another name.
