Fraction calculator
Add, subtract, multiply or divide fractions with exact integer arithmetic, an intermediate fraction and its greatest common divisor.
How to use
Enter each numerator and denominator, choose an operation and calculate. Review the reduced operands, intermediate numerator and denominator, GCD and reduced result. Copy the complete report or download TXT.
1/2 + 1/3 gives the intermediate fraction 5/6 with GCD 1, so the result is 5/6. For 2/3 × -3/4, the intermediate fraction is -6/12, GCD is 6 and the result is -1/2.
Support & limits
Accepts digits 0–9, Arabic-Indic ٠–٩ and extended Arabic-Indic ۰–۹, and a +, - or − sign. No whitespace, separators, decimals or free-form expressions. Operands are reduced first with positive denominators, so the intermediate step uses those reduced operands. Integers are displayed without /1; zero is stored as 0/1. BigInt avoids decimal rounding. The displayed GCD belongs to the intermediate fraction, not a trace of every Euclidean division.
Common questions
Can I enter a decimal or mixed number directly?
No. Enter a separate integer numerator and denominator. To represent 1.5 manually, enter 3 and 2. A zero denominator is invalid, as is dividing by a fraction with a zero numerator. Rejected input produces no valid report.
