CSV and JSON converter

Convert CSV tables and JSON locally while preserving string cells and checking headers and quotes.

Local processing without automatic storage. UTF-8; up to 2 MiB, 5,000 data rows, 100 columns and 100,000 cells; 20,000 text units per cell. Parsing worker has a 5-second deadline.

The delimiter is explicit. Blank rows and spaces are not removed automatically, and leading zeroes are preserved. A final line terminator does not add a record. CSV output quotes every cell and uses CRLF plus a UTF-8 BOM.

All cell values stay strings, including large numbers. JSON numbers, null, booleans and nested values are not silently accepted. Object headers must be unique and non-empty.

This policy applies only to CSV exports; it does not alter JSON output values. The default prefixes an apostrophe before a potential leading =, +, - or @, and cells beginning with tabs or line breaks. This changes exported text, including headers. Literal values may be interpreted as formulas by spreadsheet programs. Review import-as-text settings.

How to use

Paste data or choose a UTF-8 file. Select the conversion direction, delimiter, header option and desired JSON shape. Review the formula policy, then convert and copy or download the result.

Try an example

id,name followed by 001,Ahmed becomes an object with "001" and "Ahmed" string values; 001 does not become the number 1.

Support & limits

CSV to JSON objects requires unique non-empty headers and at least one data row. JSON arrays include a header row when selected. JSON to CSV accepts string values only; numbers, null, booleans, nested values and duplicate keys are explicitly rejected to prevent loss of precision or meaning. Every row must have matching fields.

Common questions

Do formulas and large numbers change?

CSV output quotes every cell and uses CRLF plus a BOM. Formula-like cells, including headers, receive an apostrophe prefix by default; this deliberately changes their text. Select literal export to preserve exact cell values, bearing in mind that spreadsheet programs may interpret them as formulas. No whitespace or row cleaning runs automatically, and leading zeroes are not converted to numbers.
