Split image

Split an image into a grid or strips, with an explicit edge policy and local PNG and ZIP downloads.

Output is PNG using colors decoded by the browser and Canvas; original channel depth, HDR, color profiles and metadata are not guaranteed to be preserved.

One static JPEG, PNG or WebP: 8 MiB, 4 million pixels and 8,192 pixels per side. Local processing without uploads or automatic storage. A 15-second deadline; native drawing may briefly delay the interface. After cancellation, the slot remains reserved until an ongoing native decode or encode finishes.

Up to 36 pieces and 4 million output pixels in total. No resizing. Padding may produce fully transparent cells, which remain in the files and budget. Each piece’s dimensions and cropped remainder are shown explicitly. Download individual PNGs or a complete STORE ZIP.

How to use

Choose the image and wait for its validated preview. Select grid or strips, counts, ordering and edge policy, then export. Review each piece’s dimensions and cropped-pixel counts when cropping is selected. Download a PNG or the complete ZIP; preview shows four images per page.

Try an example

A 5×3 image in a 2×2 grid with all pixels retained produces, row by row: 2×1, 3×1, 2×2 and 3×2. Cropping produces four 2×1 pieces and removes one rightmost column and one bottom row. Transparent padding produces four 3×2 pieces, preserving original pixels and filling the remainder with transparency.

Support & limits

No resizing or intentional color adjustment occurs. Keeping all pixels uses floor(position×size/count) boundaries, so dimensions differ by at most one pixel. Cropping leaves the remainder at right and bottom; padding uses ceil per cell and may produce fully transparent cells that remain in the ZIP within the budget. Without padding, row or column counts cannot exceed the available pixels along that side. Column-by-column order changes file numbering and ZIP order only. Names include piece, row and column numbers. Piece count, total pixels and conservative PNG reservation are checked before drawing surfaces are allocated; actual size is checked after each encode, without claiming a memory cap inside the browser encoder. ZIP stores PNGs without compression using a fixed archive date and does not preserve original metadata.

Common questions

Does splitting remove image pixels?

Only when you choose to crop the right/bottom remainder; the amount is shown explicitly. Choose varying sizes to retain every pixel without added borders, or transparent padding for equal cells within the total limit.
