Resize PDF pages

Set page dimensions and margins, then choose proportional fitting or canvas expansion, with explicit refusal of unsupported features.

One file up to 8 MiB and 20 pages; output up to 16 MiB. Reading and processing each have a separate 15-second deadline, with one cancellable worker. No uploads or automatic storage.

Limited support for PDFs with a classic cross-reference table. Signatures, encryption, xref streams, object streams, unsupported trailer keys and certain incremental transitions are explicitly refused; no incomplete output is produced.

Dimensions use unrotated PDF space; page rotation is retained. Fit scales the CropBox uniformly. Canvas expansion translates content and refuses shrinking. Supported simple links move with it; form widgets are supported only in canvas mode. Unsupported annotations, destinations and encodings are refused.

Visual clipping is not deletion: the original page data remains in the file. Do not use this tool to redact or conceal secrets.

ASCII decimal numbers only, without newlines, exponents or spaces; at most 32 UTF-16 units per field. Width and height: 10–14400 points. Margin: 0–1000 and less than half the smaller dimension. A PDF point is 1/72 inch. Inputs are never truncated.

How to use

Choose the file and method. Enter dimensions and margin in unrotated page space; a PDF point is 1/72 inch. Fit uniformly scales and centers the CropBox; canvas expansion translates content without scaling and refuses shrinking. Process and download a new file for review. The original Rotate value remains, so visible width and height may swap at90° or270°.

Try an example

A 100×200-point CropBox fitted into a 200×200 page with margin 10 yields scale 0.9 and 90×180 content, centered with 55 points on either horizontal side. The CropBox origin changes the translation, not the scale.

Support & limits

Support is limited to classic cross-reference tables; xref streams, object streams, encryption and signatures are unsupported. Unknown trailer keys, numbers that cannot retain their value, duplicate dictionary keys and missing references are refused. Ordinary incremental object replacement is supported; a free entry for a loaded object in any generation, or previously present Info becoming null or absent, is refused. Info absent throughout, its first addition and replacement are supported. The original file is unchanged. There is no comprehensive sanitization, execution of links or actions, or file upload. Named destinations, outlines, tagged structures, layers, article threads and unsupported geometry are refused. Simple links and Fit, numeric-coordinate XYZ, FitH, FitV and FitR destinations are supported. Form widgets are supported only in canvas mode without changing their appearances; fit refuses them. Page content accepts direct full filter names for ASCIIHex, ASCII85, RunLength, Flate and LZW, up to4; aliases, ambiguous forms, Predictor other than1, inline images and unbalanced q/Q are refused. Page contents are not rewritten or rasterized.

Common questions

Does visual clipping delete hidden information?

No. The original page streams remain; a transform and visual clip prevent content outside the old CropBox from appearing in the new margin. The bytes still exist. This tool is not for redacting or concealing secrets.
